Nero 11 Changes Suite's Focus

Nero 11 Changes Suite's Focus

Nero 11 You can still use Nero 11 to burn CDs and DVDs (and even Blu-rays), but that's no longer the emphasis of the suite. With its latest version, Nero wants to become the software you use to organize and share your digital life.
At the heart of Nero 11 is its new MediaBrowser, which aggregates access to photos, videos, and music in a user-friendly interface. The suite's main applications have also undergone facelifts to give them all consistent interfaces. Another key component of the suite is Nero Kwik Media, which now serves as the hub of the suite and is available as a free separate download.
Device support has also been beefed up. In particular, users of Android devices can now use Nero 11 to sync an iTunes library of music as well as photos and video with their phones or tablets wirelessly.
"Nero 11 was completely rebuilt with straightforward interfaces, pre-configured settings and clear instructions that help users of any skill level produce results quickly," said Martin Stein, Nero's senior vice president of global products. "Best of all, it grows with a user’s skills and needs. Advanced users can have a deeper level of control over every setting when they need it and want it."
Also revamped and simplified is Nero's video-editing application, now called Nero Video. The program makes extensive use of a storyboard view and an Express Editing mode that creates sophisticated multitrack productions without requiring the user to manipulate the multiple tracks explicitly. The video editor takes advantage of both Nvidia and AMD graphics hardware for faster encoding. Users can import clips and projects from Microsoft's Windows Live Movie Maker, a free entry-level video editor for use in Windows.
Nero 11 also includes a LIVEBackup component that is enhanced with simpler setup and the ability to back up network-attached-storage (NAS) drives. It can either back up the user's entire system or just media content like photos, video, and music.
Another rebuilt part of the suite, Nero Recode, lets you convert video or audio to iPad, iPhone, Android devices, PSP, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 formats. Its interface, too, has been made consistent with other suite members'.
Nero 11 is available starting today for download at nero.com for $99.99 and the Platinum edition, which adds Blu-ray playback, is $129.99. Separate suite members are also available at various (lower) price points, and as mentioned, Nero Kwik Media is a free download from the same site.
